Chicken Nanban with Tartar Sauce チキン南蛮 recipe

Japanese style tartar sauce, hard boiled egg, mayonnaise, rice vinegar, onion, salt, pepper
Steps to make chicken nanban

Chicken Nanban with Tartar Sauce チキン南蛮

(Fried chicken with sweet & sour sauce topped with Japanese style Tartar sauce)


1. Prepare the nanban sauce by combining vinegar, soy sauce, mirin, and sugar, then bring the sauce to boil. Set aside. Prepare the tartar sauce by crashing a hard boiled egg with a fork, then combine with mayonnaise, vinegar, onion, salt & pepper. Mix well and set aside.


2. Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper. Coat the chicken thighs with a thin layer of flour, then dip them in beaten egg.


3. Using a good amount of oil, deep fry the chicken thighs.


4. Remove excess oil with a kitchen paper. Add the nanban sauce from step one and coat both sides of the chicken thighs with the sauce. Serve with the tartar sauce from step 1 on top of the chicken thighs.
