Sweet & Sour Meatballs 肉団子の甘酢あん
1. Combined grated ginger, finely chopped onion, mince pork, beaten egg, and all the seasonings. Add some white pepper if you like a bit of heat.
2. Roll the mixture into bite sized balls.
3. Prepare the sweet & sour sauce. Firstly combine water, sugar, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Bring to boil. Secondly, combine water and potato starch for thickening the sauce. Simmer the first mixture on low heat, then add the second mixture for thickening. Keep stirring till the sauce reaches a gel consistency (see video below).
4. Pan fry the meatballs with a good amount of oil. Alternatively you can also deep fry the meatballs. Once they are cooked, add them to the sauce prepared in step 3. Coat each meatball with the sauce, then it’s ready to serve!
